Passing Traffic Fail, Hits Left Turning Car [Dashcam]

Russian dash cams have been able to catch all sorts of interesting accidents across the country. The accident captured by the video above is no different.

The dash cam video starts off with the dash cam car following behind a black Volkswagen. The black Volkswagen, in turn, is following behind a passenger bus that is beginning to follow the road that curves to the left. Traffic on the two lane road is light and you can see pedestrians on the side of the road on the sidewalk along with a couple cars parked on the sides of the road, but nothing out of the ordinary.

As the dash cam car continues to follow the Volkswagen, both the Volkswagen and the passenger bus begin to pickup speed as they finish coming around the bend in the road and begin to accelerate. During the straightaway stretch in the road, you can see more pedestrians and cars parked on the side of the road, but nothing that really indicates hazardous driving conditions that could cause an accident.

After following the Volkswagen on the straightaway for a few seconds, both the passenger buss and the Volkswagen can be seen slowing down and their brake lights illuminating. The dashcam car also slows down as the Volkswagen turns on the left turn signal to indicate that the car is going to turn left.

As the Volkswagen starts to make the left turn onto the other street, a black SUV enters the view of the dashcam video and is headed straight for the black Volkswagen. The Volkswagen is unable to avoid the SUV and collides with the SUV. The momentum of the SUV carries it forward onto the sidewalk and then onto a patch of grass on the side of the road where it finally comes to a stop.

This is just another example of what can happen when people are not driving safely. The SUV was driving too fast to be able to stop when the Volkswagen was making a left turn and the Volkswagen did not check if it clear before initiating the turn.
